Fergus Ross

I'm Fergus, and for me, Odds and Sodds is all about bringing our work out of an enclosed studio space and into the real world, to meet everyday people who can scrutinise and ask questions about our work we never thought to ask. We have a collection of talented creatives to bounce ideas off and make work alongside, and that is such an asset when trying to bring our work to a wider crowd. I'm partial to strong visual storytelling, bold characters and using our work to blur the lines between entertainment and education.

Some of My Work

Changes (2021)

By Bonk! Theatre

'Changes' was a young people's theatre piece about puberty, aiming to creatively explore topics that are brushed over in more traditional sexual education classes. Using a highly stylised set and the familiar setting of a classroom allowed the work to potentially tour schools and take the place of a regular lesson. 'Changes' allowed me to really push the visual aesthetic that was enforced on us at the time, that being what we could afford to use (and THAT being cardboard).

Cast:

Maisey O'Leary, Fergus Ross, Alex Sheppard, Rebecca Standen, Jack Stone,Emily Wixey.

Ersatz (2021/22)

'Ersatz' is my debut solo work, in which I explore what it's like to be a half of a whole, a twin without their doppelganger. I was lucky enough to perform the piece twice during my time at the university of Chichester, one of these occasions being in the 2022 Interact festival.
