'Wooden Horse' is currently on hold. Born from a love of Horrible Histories, and theatre that educates while entertaining. This project was very kindly supported and funded by Farnham Maltings, through their 'No Strings Attached' grant. We look forward to seeing these Greek warriors tour their way through the past ten years of war, propaganda and HUGE egos!

We want to unpack one of the best known myths of all time, the story of the Trojan Horse! However, to know the story of the Trojan Horse, you have to know about Troy!

This flourishing city-state lay across the Aegean sea from what we now know as Greece, and due to some tomfoolery that we quite literally don't have time to get into right now, Troy finds itself embroiled in a ten-year war with the city-states of mainland Greece. The end of this war is recounted in the events of 'The Iliad', which is just this little 700+ page ditty some poet called Homer (who may or may not have actually existed) wrote. Alas! We discovered that poor old Homer had just so happened to leave out the best bit! The story of the Wooden Horse being used to break the siege of Troy had to be explained by Roman poets long after Homer's Iliad had hit the shelves of the ancient world. It's amongst this confusing mix of sources, tall-tales and mystery that we find ourselves, and we're looking to get to the bottom of just what happened in and around that Wooden Horse!
