What is I'm Working On It!?

Untitled design (23).png

I' m Working On It is an event for performers/performance groups to show 10-15 minutes of in-progress work; whether that be poetry, music, plays, musicals, mime, comedy, performance art, spoken word, a collection of in progress scenes etc. anything is allowed as long as it's performative and work-in-progress.

The event aims to connect local performers in and around Herne Bay and allow people to show off their work for free to a live audience. The audience are there to give feedback throughout via pieces of paper to write any notes, as well as some time after the event to hang out at the bar space and chat to one another and receive feedback.

It doesn't matter what skill level you're at or your experience with performing, this is a space for people to play, experiment, make mistakes and show off what you can do! So let's get out of our comfort zones together.

"Proud would be an understatement to describe how myself and the rest of Odds and Sodds felt after putting together the very first event of I'm Working On It! As the event organiser I am over the moon with the reception of our event from both the talented performers who showed off their work, to the incredible and attentive audience for giving the performers valuable feedback. It warmed my heart to see so much creativity and support in one place, everyone was so respectful of each other and it was exactly what I was hoping for when planning this event: a safe and supportive place that welcomes new talent in and around our small Herne Bay town. I think there are times where the sense of community feels like it's fading but it's events like this that gives us the chance to bring joy into the community and allow freedom of expression to shine through. This will not be the final I'm Working On It, and I can not wait to do more events in the future! Stay creative."
